Peek decides to join in the fun with the launch of specialized apps for its email device. The apps are mainly aimed on the users of Web 2.0 applications such as Twitter, Google Maps, Facebook and News sites. This is great news, but with its email only function, Peek should add voice to be able to compete with RIM’s Blackberry.
There are interesting things brewing at Shenzhen right now, including this portable internet browsing device that has a 5 inch screen, wifi connectivity, a Windows Mobile OS and a camera. It runs on a 624 MHz processor and that’s about it. Sadly if you would like to know more you’d have to travel all the way to China.
With Steve Job coming back into the limelight, he launched a new generation of iPod Nanos. This time, the popular mp3 player comes with a video playback feature and a camera, mike and speaker. It now also comes with a larger 2.2 inch display, aluminum casing, a pedometer and the long-awaited feature – an FM radio. The new Nanos are priced from $150 to $180 and comes in nine colors: black, silver, purple, green, blue, orange, yellow, pink and red.
Coming this fourth quarter of 2009 is Palm’s new baby, called the Palm Pixi. It is an entry-level smart phone that features a QWERTY keyboard, 2 megapixel camera with LED flash and many more. Unfortunately it seems to have no wi-fi connectivity. Its price is yet to be announced with Sprint as its carrier in the United States.
The adorable lamp featured in Pixar’s animated shorts is now available as limited edition disk collection holder. The set comes with Pixar’s latest animated feature, Up, that includes DVD, blu-ray and digital formats. The limited edition pack is available for $130 at amazon.com

The snow leopard for Mac OS X fanboys is out this August 28. What sets it apart from the earlier Leopard version is that it has faster apps and takes up less space in the hard drive. It’ll cost $28 dollars at amazon.com

In a very surprising move, Nokia today just announced its bid to the netbook market. Called the “Booklet 3G,” it is loaded with an Atom processor, a 10.1 inch display, bluetooth, wifi, integrated 3G wireless and a hot swappable sim card all slapped into an aluminum case. Based on the video, it seems to be running on Windows 7 with Ovi applications. There’s no word on how much it will cost and the release date, but we are all waiting.
The Chelsea Garden show this year features a fountain made by the inventor James Dyson. It creates the illusion of water flowing backwards uphill, leaving spectators amused. The trick is illustrated above, bubbles help complete the illusion of the reverse flowing of the water in four of its ramps.
