Peek decides to join in the fun with the launch of specialized apps for its email device. The apps are mainly aimed on the users of Web 2.0 applications such as Twitter, Google Maps, Facebook and News sites. This is great news, but with its email only function, Peek should add voice to be able to compete with RIM’s Blackberry.

There are interesting things brewing at Shenzhen right now, including this portable internet browsing device that has a 5 inch screen, wifi connectivity, a Windows Mobile OS and a camera. It runs on a 624 MHz processor and that’s about it. Sadly if you would like to know more you’d have to travel all the way to China.

Buddha Pears

Reverse-Flowing Fountain

The Chelsea Garden show this year features a fountain made by the inventor James Dyson. It creates the illusion of water flowing backwards uphill, leaving spectators amused. The trick is illustrated above, bubbles help complete the illusion of the reverse flowing of the water in four of its ramps.

Rat-Eating Plant Discovered in the Philippines

Botanists led by Alastair Robinson and Steward McPherson discovered in Palawan, Philippines what has to be the largest carnivorous plant in the world, capable of eating rats and insects. Previously, the plant was only known through accounts in 2000.

Michael Jackson Etch-A-Sketch

Artist George Vlosich III used his mastery of the kid’s toy Etch-A-Sketch to pay homage to Michael Jackson. It took 150 hours for the artist to finish this particular piece of work.

Britain Releases Confidential UFO Files

The national archives of Great Britain just made public the documents of the “Rendlesham Forest Incident,” the most popular UFO sighting in the country. The sighting was in December 1980 when two RAF servicemen noticed strange lights around near their camp. A glowing triangular object was reported to be seen that filled the entire forest with white light.

Kuroshio Sea at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Kuroshio Sea – 2nd largest aquarium tank in the world – (song is Please don’t go by Barcelona) from Jon Rawlinson on Vimeo.

The Okinawa Churaumi Aquiarium in Japan features the Kuroshio sea tank that holds 7500 cubic meters of water. It has the world’s second largest acrylic glass panel at 8.2 by 22.5 meters. Watch the video and relax with the music.
